Esiste un solo capitano!
Saturday I travelled back in time. First I went back to being the Juventus supporter, “just” a supporter like I was twenty years ago. And as a supporter I watched a great match, I was overjoyed in front of my TV watching the great outcome of extra time after a nice recovery during the normal time. This result is really important given the great value of the opponent Napoli team that surely had an excellent last season and deserved to play in Beijing and no doubt will be the protagonist of the coming season. Then the journey continued. The words written by Gigi Buffon on his Facebook page filled me with pride for all I did (and we did) in 20 black and white years. No confirmations were needed: the relationship I have with my team mates is one of the things I take pride in and I have always treasured it. But such a message from a friend like Gigi, a sincere and honest person, have really surprised and touched me, at the end of the first final without me after many years. Thank you Gigi, I’m happy that it was you to lift the Cup, the result of the scudetto that we dreamt of and fought hard to win and that hug in the locker room in Trieste, just a hug, without any words. I’m sure it wasn’t the last Cup you lifted, there’ll be many others.

Mi primera tarjeta es una tarjeta de color rosa con mi foto cuando tenía trece años, ‘sector juvenil y colegial’, firmado Del Piero Alessandro (primero el apellido, luego el nombre). Mi primer equipo es el C. A. San Vendemiano.
Todo esto es cierto: la bolsa con el nombre del club, la camiseta, los números en la parte de atrás… Nunca imaginaba la carrera que luego tuve, para mi había conseguido lo que ya era un gran logro.
Hoy, 24 años después, la tarjeta regresó a su casa, sin ningún tipo de “propietario”, excepto yo. Quedan sólo unos pocos días.
Mientras tanto, ya estoy trabajando para estar listo cuando llegue el momento. Las motivaciones no me falta, y estoy afrontando con mi staff, este primer período de la preparación individual con alegría, sudor y trabajo, para perseguir el siguiente objetivo.

My first footballer personal card is just a piece of pink card stock with my photo on it, taken when I was 13, “youth and school sector”, signed Del Piero Alessandro ( first my last name and then, my name). My very first team is A.C. San Vendemiano.
Everything is real: a duffel bag with the name of the club on it, a jersey, a number on the back of a jersey… What I have achieved by that time was already a huge thing for me, I couldn’t have even imagined back then my future career.
Today, 24 years later, that card has come back home, and I am the only “master” of it. It’ll stay here just for few days…
Meanwhile, I’m already working hard to be fit at the right moment. I’m enthusiastic about the future and together with all my stuff I’m dealing well with this first period of individual training, happy to sweat and work hard, looking forward to the next target.
